Infinita Symphonia
A Mind’s Chronicle
2011

Sometimes when you listen to something new you get that feeling of nostalgia, that’s something that has hit me with Infinita Symphonia. Band names that spring to mind during the first seconds you spend listening to “A Mind’s Chronicle” might include Avantasia and Iron Maiden. I know those are big shoes to fill, but that’s just how awesome Infinita Symphonia is. This album reminded me in particular of Avantasia’s “The Metal Opera pt. 1”. And I do so love that album.

The only problem I had with this album is that there aren’t really songs that stand out. The overall production is very good, the band is vocally strong, guitar-proficient, standing out when it comes to keyboards, boasting some lovely drum lines,  and everything balances successfully. Granted, the vocals do overrule everything a bit, but that’s probably because the vocals of Luca Micioni are just plain powerful. There are also two vocal guest appearances on this album that ought to be mentioned: Fabio Lione (Rhapsody of Fire) on the song “Here There’s No Why” and Tim “Ripper” Owens (ex- Iced Earth) on the song “Only One Reason”. Two jewels on this already very fulfilling album.

You know, I can’t really think of much more to say about this album, it’s a great piece of metal, and I think you just should listen to it. Maybe the songs all sound a bit the same, but come on, this is their debut! I think that Infinita Symphonia will become a seriously great band in the scene. Watch out, because these guys are definitely on their way to come and kick your ass.

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get back to my headbanging.
